Mrs. Kennedy                     Science Room 210    Number#719-347-2766 ext 210

Welcome to 2019-2020 school year! I will be teaching 7th and 8th grade Science for Calhan Middle School this year. This is my fourth year as a Calhan Bulldog. I am happy to be a part of the Calhan Community as a teacher as well as a mother of two Calhan students. I have found that the education provided by Calhan Schools is outstanding in its personal attention to meet the needs of students as they grow and work to reach their goals. I encourage you to contact me by email or phone so that we can work together to support your child’s success this school year.  I look forward to another productive and rewarding year with the Calhan School District!

My career in education began many years ago as a Homebound Tutor for Harrison School District 2 as well as numerous years substitute teaching in various school districts in the Colorado Springs area including Calhan. My formal studies include my Undergraduate degrees from the University of Northern Colorado in 2002; a BS in Business Management and a BA in Speech Communication. My Masters in Elementary Education is from the Western Governors University, including a student teaching semester with Calhan Elementary.  My Colorado license includes certification in four areas: Elementary Education, Secondary Science, Secondary Speech and Secondary Business.

 Course Descriptions

My goal for my students is to teach the steps of the scientific method. This will teach students critical thinking, a guide to problem solving and resourcefulness. The end goal is an individual that is a conscientious citizen, knowledgeable consumer, capable career holder and viable college candidate. Each course includes hands on activities, group work, personal homework, short constructed response writing and formative assessments. Each grade works on the three areas of Physical Science, Life Science and Earth and Space sciences.  We will be using the workbook and online resources from:
